No longer a Long.

Yesterday I got to partake in the wedding of one of my great friends, +Kristen. She married a pretty awesome dude and is now a Krueger! The day went so beautifully with only the tiniest hiccups (what wedding doesn't have those!) and now sh is blissfully married to the man of her dreams! She looked stunning and all of us bridesmaids (matrons? We are all married) felt so pretty! I am so happy for the two of them, she will make a wonderful step mother to his daughters and he will take excellent care of all of them. Out of all of this I got to make new friends and pay with a bunch of babies. Amber and Sam are two awesome people and fabulous mothers! They make me so excited to be a mommy one day!

I hop everyone is having a great start to the week and before I forget I finally heard from my brother! He is alive and well and hasn't wanted to fully quite yet since he started boot camp!

Have a good evening everyone!

She is probably the most photogenic baby I have ever met. She is also my new best friend :)

The Troll

There once lived three friends named Jayne, Kita and Krys. The three girls loved adventures and would often find mischief in the dark forest near their home. One fine day the dear friends ventured out into the forest, frolicking and horsing around, they stumbled upon a door in a tree. They decided to enter the door and see what inside. Jayne went first and was immediately captured by a hideous, evil troll. Kita and Krys ran towards the troll, throwing rocks and begging for Jayne's release from the troll's malicious grasp. As they pleaded and begged, Kita noticed vines hanging about inside the tree and she had a plan. She yelled at Krys to grab a vine near her, Kita grabbed another and the girls ran around the evil troll until it was tightly wound with no escape. The troll screamed and screeched at being caught after so many years of bad deeds. The vines squeezed and squeezed until the troll screamed no more. The three friends were together again to frolic the forest in peace, never having to worry about the evil troll again. The end.

Henry VIII and His Wives

He was a prince,
The second born,
But then his brother died
And his father would be soon,
So he married the Spanish princess,
His brother's bride.
She was catholic Katherine,
He didn't care,
She bore him a daughter,
But not the coveted son,
It was his hearts desire.
Henry abandoned his wife,
Told the pope God had cursed him,
He found a new wife,
But first he had to divorce his first,
He parted with his catholic ways
And became the head of his own church.
After many years he fulfilled his promise,
He married Anne
After quickly knocking her up.
She spread an English bible
And shook up the idea of religion,
She too bore her king a daughter
and he soon became bored.
He found a new bride
Then found false reason
To cut off the head of the old.
Married and happy,
He wouldn't make Jane the queen,
First she must give him the son of his dreams.
This is what she did,
Too bad she could not live,
She died after birth but Henry got his son.
He needed more sons
So he married a German princess,
The Catholics who loved Jane were no amused,
Lucky for them neither was the king,
He ditched his new bride,
Also named Anne and labeled her his sister.
Wife number 5 would excite his loins,
She was very young and frivolous,
He knew they would have sons,
Too bad for him she could not stay faithful,
Sh too would lose her head
For her love of Culpeper.
He traded in that Catherine
For yet another Catherine.
This one would prove to last
And barely kept her head,
The king finally passed,
Leaving Edward, Mary and Elizabeth
To endure the treacherous succession,
Only the third would have made him so proud,
She wasn't the son he wanted
But rather the Virgin Queen of legend.

The Post Office

At the post office people come and go all day. One particular day an elderly man was writing an address on his envelope and stamping it when he saw a young girl standing sadly in line with a box. The old man got in line behind her and struck up a conversation.

“Hello young lady, what brings you to the post office today?” the girl just looked at him and didn't say anything, she was clearly shy, “I wrote this letter to my friend. He lives in New York. In my day we didn't have cell phones we just wrote to each other. We like to keep in contact that way. What is in your box?”

The girl looked at him and finally spoke, “It's my grandpa's old camera. My mother became sick this year and I don't have a dad so I decided to sell my camera because my mom needs help.”

The old man was torn apart by this. How sad for a young girl to lose something so precious to her, “what if I buy your camera? I will even refund the person who bought it. How much did you sell it for?”

“$100,” responded the girl. That was certainly not enough. Th old man gave her $100 and took the box. He gave her a pat on the back and told her everything would be okay. Two weeks later the girl went outside to check the mail. When she opened the door there was a box. She brought it in and when she opened it she was shocked. Inside was the camera she loved so much and ten $100 bills. The girl was even more shocked at this discovery! Every month the girl received a box with different camera things and ten $100 bills. The old man couldn't give much but he gave what he could to a girl who just wanted to help the only person she had left in her life.

Alien Cats From Planet Arla

Arla was the home of a fine cats species in a far off galaxy. They once inhabited all of the planet but an evil warlord ferret named Karagah took over an attempted to obliterate the cat population. He sold cats into slavery for the ferrets now living on planet Arla and starved them into small numbers. The cats fled their home planet in droves and searched the galaxy for someone to help them conquer the evil ferret Karagah. The cats came across a planet where the great horned owls lived. They made a plea to Lord Maximus for assistance in destroying the evil ferrets. The owls loved eating ferrets, it was their main food group, they were very happy to help. With Lord Maximus in tow, the cats descended on their planet Arla. In a blaze of glory the owls swooped in and picked off the ferrets. Lord Maximus left the evil Karagah in a prison that was inescapable to ferrets and gave him to the cats. The cats celebrated for many days and nights, making sure to parade the evil ferret warlord around the planet. They built up their planet again and never released Karagah. The cats and the great horned owls lived in forever harmony, promising to help each other whenever an enemy attacked one of their planets.

Life can be difficult sometimes

but it is worth it. Often I feel a little too emotional and stressed from how things are going but I have to trust that there is a plan and I am just need to appreciate what I have while I enjoy life.

Today was the rehearsal dinner for Kristen's wedding. It was a lot of fun and dinner was delicious! Tomorrow is the bachelorette party which should also be fun! Now I am off for a run so I will see you all on Sunday!

The Jog

Jogging through the park the stars twinkle down upon us. Breathing in and out, we cruise along the lake pounding the pavement where roly polies avoid us giants. The cool air kissed our damp skin and our lungs worked hard to pump us to our goal. We pass by families of bunnies and avoid the enormous spiders that scamper along the path. Our legs grow tired but our end is just in sight so we push through the pain and urge our legs to go faster. Bugs buzzing around we focus on or feet. Left, right, left, right, moving towards an end that is so close but feels so far. With a final burst we reach our end and take a moment to take in our effort. Breathing hard and smiling at our accomplishment, the lake looks like glass as if the night sky is admiring it's own reflection. The air is cold but our bodies are warm. The groundhogs sleep and the racoons rouse for night time trash adventures but we just stand and admire the beauty of a quiet lake in the middle of a busy suburb. A lovely evening run in a serene Colorado city at the heart of the foothills.

Gloria

Gloria loved her rose bushes. They were her greatest accomplishment. Everyday she tended to her roses, watering them, pruning them, feeding them and even talking sweetly to them. They were the most beautiful roses in all of the city, possibly even the whole world. Each year she dreamed of her roses being even more beautiful than the year before. The winter came and went and Gloria got ready to prune her new rose bushes for the season. She inspected her roses and nothing was growing, not even thorns or leaves. Each day she looked for life in her roses but each day it never showed any signs. The whole spring came and went as did summer. Gloria's roses never came back and her world was crushed. Every night she wept for what she no longer had. She missed her roses and never understood why they never grew back.

Organizing...

We collect a lot of things we don't need to collect and it results in organizing days and an excessive amount of dust. Life has been good but I am ready to start doing more than massage. I want to focus more on writing and I think it is time for that! Once this year is up I am going to officially start writing my book! With that all said I have a massage soon so I must go!

See ya on Friday!

The Real Princess and the Pea

When the prince was little he became friends with a little peasant girl. They would play in the perfect green fields that the prince's family owned. As they grew older the prince began to fall in love with the peasant girl. She was beautiful and hard working. She was also very brilliant and educated thanks to her father who believed in educating everyone. The prince helped her family and gave them gifts of horses and clothe. One day the queen told the prince that he was old enough to begin searching for a bride.

“We must find a you a princess to marry my dear son! All your sisters will marry princes and leave but you, my sweet prince, will stay and rule all this land,” doted the queen.

“Mother, what if it is not a princess I want to marry?” asked the prince.

“Oh don't be silly my good son! Your father married me, a princess from a far off land and his father married your grandmother, a princess from a far off land. You must marry a princess to unite all of the lands of the world. It is our duty as royals,” responded the queen.

After that day, the king and queen arranged for ambassadors to begin negotiations. Men from all over the world came to lavish dinners and soon a handful of princesses were picked out. The princesses were invited to stay at the castle to see if they would be a good fit for the prince. What the prince didn't know was that the queen didn't want him to marry a princess from over seas. She wanted him to be happy so she devised a plan to get rid of all the potential mates and allow him to find a wife from his own lands. The queen told the prince that a perfect princess would be picked if she woke up with bruises.

“Why bruises mother?” asked the prince.

“I shall place a pea under the mattress of each princess. If they are the true and proper princess for you they will have little round bruises all over their delicate skin from sleeping on the pea,” smiled the queen.

This gave the prince an idea. A storm was raging and he told his mother he needed to make sure his beloved horses were locked up properly. He took his best horse and rode to his loves house. He spoke to her father about the queen's plans and asked if he could marry his daughter. The peasant was elated! He had always loved how kind the prince was and he happily allowed his daughter to marry the boy she loved. The prince rode back to the castle with his intended.

“Mother! Mother! I found this poor girl out by the stables. She was lost and soaking wet. May she too stay here for the night until the morning?” pleaded the prince. The queen agreed and sent her to a room where a pea was under the mattress. The prince was thrilled! He did no think his mother would fall for it. Once everyone was asleep, the prince and his closest sister went to the peasant girl's room. They used berries and powders to create little round bruises on the girl's back. The next morning, the king and queen held a grand breakfast for all the guests.

“Thank you all for coming. I have a confession to make,” said the queen after breakfast was eaten and wine was served, “Underneath all of your mattresses was a pea. I had to make sure my only son would find the perfect bride. I would like to privately inspect the backs of all of you. Son, you may take the girl back now.”

“Mother, did she not sleep in one of your set up rooms?” inquired the prince.

“She did. Come girl, let's go princesses,” the queen took all the girls back and inspected their backs for bruises that wouldn't be there. Each one was kindly dismissed to go home and look for another prince to marry. Finally she came to the peasant girl. Shockingly, the girl had little round spots that appeared to be bruises, “Thank you girl, please go back to your seat and send my son in.”

The prince walked into the queen's room and expected her to be upset but she was rather joyous instead.

“Son, who is this girl?” asked the queen.

“She is a peasant girl from just outside the fields. Her family has been loyal to us for as long as they have lived.”

“My dear prince, do you love this girl?” the prince was taken a back by his mother's question, “You must love this girl to have brought her here and faked bruises on her back.”

“I will be honest, I tried to trick you mother. I do love this girl. I have loved her for a long time and I do not want to marry someone else. Her father gave me permission to bring her here and marry her, if that would be okay with you and father,” the prince took a big gulp of air and held his breath as his parent's traded glances.

“My son,” responded the king, “let this be your last trick.”

“We should make preparations I suppose,” said the queen to the king.

“Preparations?” asked the prince.

“Why yes son! We need to get her a wardrobe and a title. We should also give her family a title as well so they can come to court and attend to their daughter. When would you like to marry your new bride?” All the queen had ever wanted was for her son to be good, true and happy. This girl brought out all of that in him. With a grand smile she gave her son permission to marry the peasant girl he loved. The prince and his love lived happily ever after and the rouse was never brought to light.

The Will

When grandma passed away, she did not have much. She wasn't the type to collect trinkets and things. She lived in a fairly modest one bedroom home after grandpa had passed. Even her memorial was quaint. It was held at one of my uncle's home and she was quietly cremated. We were surprised when we learned that we were all being summoned to a lawyers office to read her will. Grandma had a huge family. She had ten children, each of those children had at least one child as well. There were fifty of us at this will reading and the lawyer seemed fully prepared for that. We were not prepared for what he said to us.

“Thank you all for coming. Your mother and grandmother was a wonderful person. I have been close to her and her husband for many years now while I helped with their wills and estates,” said the lawyer that none of us had ever met, “Now with that said I want to tell you I was already paid. I want to tell you that so you know this money is all yours.”

“Money? Mom didn't have money. We always lived on only what we needed,” proclaimed one of my aunt's.

“There is a little about your mother that you didn't know and she liked it that way,” smiled the lawyer, “Excluding the spouses, each of you will receive one million dollars,” he paused for an appropriate gasp that had followed. I think all of us had our mouths on the floor.

“Are you serious?”

“Where did they get so much money from?”

“A million?”

Everyone was in utter shock.

“Where did mom get that kind of money from?” asked my dad.

“Like I said your mother was a wonderful person. She worked very, very hard before any of you were born. She saved every penny. When she learned she was pregnant the first time she decided to sell one of her dolls. She collected porcelain dolls and after selling a few your family was set. When you guys started having children of your own she decided to sell the rest of her dolls that were now in a storage locker in mint condition. They sold for a large amount of money and she also made a few investments that she cashed in on when her husband died. She wanted her family to have comfortable lives. She only has a few rules,” responded the lawyer.

“What kind of rules?” asked one of my cousins.

“The grandchildren do not get their money unless they finish college and/or some sort of vocational school. She also requests that you all maintain living within your means and use this money to help people when you can. She would like you to invest it and watch it grow as she did. She was brilliant but mostly she thought about everyone but herself and that is why you all have so much money.”

We all left after the meeting and had coffee at my family's home. For a little bit no one spoke. We didn't know what to say. Finally I spoke up in a way that grandma would have loved.

“Wow! Grandma was a sneaky, kind liar! Guess we all better go to work tomorrow and make that inheritance grow. I don't want her haunting me over bad money choices,” everyone laughed and we all shared fond memories of grandma being cheap when she definitely wasn't poor.

The hills are golden

The mountains are so pretty right now! Things are starting to turn golden, not yet red, from the Aspen's changing. It is so beautiful! We tried to take the truck up to see the trees but we nearly lost a tire and had to go back to get our other car. We finally made it up there and saw the beauty that is Colorado.

Enjoy my pictures from Saturday!

A little bit of red bursting through the green and gold.

People in Colorado can be so weird. This is what we found in the mountains near St. Mary's Glacier.

The L.A. Night Sky

Anna lived in Los Angeles her whole life. She had left the city before but just to visit other large cities such as Chicago and New York. Her whole life revolved around the big lights and sounds of L.A. One night, as Anna sat on her back patio watching the twinkling lights of the never sleeping city, she heard a loud surge and all the lights went out. The world around her was completely dark and for a minute it was also silent. Cars crashed and people started yelling trying to figure out what was going on. Anna was terrified. She had never been in complete darkness before. She didn't even own a flash light. As she searched around for some answers she noticed the night sky. The sky was littered with glowing lights. She had never seen anything so beautiful yet so terrifying! It had to be aliens and she needed backup so she called the police. Quickly the police were at her home because she said she was scared and it was an emergency.

“What can we help you with ma'am?” asked one officer.

“Oh thank you so much for coming!” Anna caught her breath and explained, “The city lights went out and I believe it is because aliens are coming.”

“We have a non-emergency, possibly drug or alcohol related,” radioed the other officer back to command.

“Ma'am, you are only supposed to call 911 for emergencies. You are wasting our time. If we receive a call like this again from you we will give you a ticket.”

“I am being serious! Look in the sky! Don't you see the glowing lights?” Anna was frantic, “Those are aliens. It has to be! Why else would the lights go out and those lights in the sky appear?”

“There was an accident that took out the lights for a large area. The lights in the sky you are seeing are stars, not aliens ma'am. Please just go inside and wait for the energy company to fix the problem. Goodnight,” responded one of the officers.

“Can you believe this?” said the one officer to the other as they walked away.

“Maybe aliens should attack L.A. with clueless people like that here!” they laughed and walked away as they chuckled at a girl who had not ever seen stars before.

The Story of the Trees

Hundreds of years ago, the trees lived in harmony in the untouched mountains. They danced in the wind and soaked up endless hours of sun. As the years progressed the trees began to notice a new creature. These beings were people. They gathered leaves and branches for various things but for the most part left the trees alone. People soon began coming in larger masses. The trees grew concerned and tried to sprout a greater force of greenery throughout the forests. People came in droves with wagons and cattle. Horses helped create paths and roads as people cut down the trees in the way. The surviving trees mourned their lost. Eventually people settled in the forests and began paving roads. Mountain sides were blasted away and thousands of trees were hauled off to their deaths. The trees ached for their loss. Now the surviving trees stand by the roads, watching over the land where their families were destroyed. They see children with their parents heading out to camp. They see young adults road tripping to the coast. They see happy people enjoying the scenery that is left. The trees still mourn their loved ones atop the mountains high in the clouds but they stay strong in their roots that the memory never be forgotten of quieter times in the land.

The Door

I took my walk as I do everyday and as I breathed the fresh crisp air I felt the world shift. I opened my eyes and saw before me a door that right in my path. I looked about and walked around the door. It was green and only had a handle on one side. I shook off any doubt and grabbed the handle. On the other side I was greeted by a happy flying carpet. I threw caution to the wind and hopped right on the magic carpet. I flew through warm Arabian skies, watching lights twinkle below me from so high up. The stars glittered above and I could have flown forever but before me stood another door. I had such a grand adventure with the first one so I gladly opened the second. I walked out onto the scaly back of a fast running triceratops. With only horns to hold onto I gripped really tightly. Whooping and hollering, I galloped on the back on a dinosaur friend through the prehistoric lands. After my beast had a leafy lunch another door appeared within my sight. I grabbed the handle as fast as could be and was thrust into a watery land of mermaids and the sea. I had a pretty green tale and my hair floated around me like a halo of blonde. I was weightless and free dashing through the watery place of my dreams. Chasing fish and playing about with beautiful merpeople, I could not help but think of what the next door would bring me. It opened up all the lands of my childhood past. Maybe next I would dance in space or run with a cheetah, my mind was endless when I was young.

The Soldier and His Girl

There once was a boy,
So handsome and strong,
He was a soldier,
With the world within his sight.
He was to leave so very soon
But not before everyone knew
He was in love
With a beautiful girl.
First they were friends
Yet an attraction was made,
He loved how tall and slender she was,
It was her smile that sold him,
She adored his sarcasm and perfect hair,
His kindness and caring heart
Is what shot the arrow from cupid.
They have a young bond
That boot camp can't break,
He is a soldier with his girl,
Even when he is states away.

The Magic Beans

He stood in the middle of the crowd with sweaty palms and a racing heart. It was hard enough for Foster to be in public without having a panic attack but this was worse, he was at the Eiffel Tower looking for the six thieves that stole the magic beans he was entrusted. So here he stood, surrounded by Parisians and foreigners alike. How did he get here and why was he so anxious? That is simple enough. Just hours earlier Foster was in a cafe eating a pastry. His life was so simple. He wasn't even in Paris! He had been an hour away in a small village minding his own business when an elderly man sat down at his table. Foster was extremely confused.

“Bonjour Monsieur, may I help you?” he asked as his espresso paused between his plate and his mouth.

“It is a lovely day isn't it?” smiled the old man. Foster was even more confused. He had experienced French kindness but he loved France because the people often kept to themselves and, well, he is agoraphobic.

“Uh... um.. yes, yes it is lovely I suppose?” he was becoming anxious. What if this man was sitting there just judging him? Was he saying the correct things?

“Thank you for taking a moment to sit with me young man,” said the old man. He grasped Foster's hand for a thank you shake and gave an even bigger smile, “don't lose these. They are very important to the human race,” with a wink the old man was gone.

In his hand were six beans. Beans? What a weird man and a weird thing to do. Foster looked around to see if someone was pulling a prank on him. He didn't notice anyone laughing but he did notice a man in a booth staring at him. Suddenly his pocket where he put the beans felt really hot. He pulled out the beans and saw that they were glowing a fierce, bright golden color. A minute ago the beans were normal! He looked up and saw the man at the booth was in awe as well and was talking into his wrist. Feeling anxious, Foster left the cafe and headed to his car. As he drove home he noticed a black car following him. Growing more and more anxious, he rushed home and ran inside. The black car passed by slowly and Foster took a deep breath.

“Just breath. It is all in your head,” he said to himself.

“Yes deep breaths. Now you need to pack a bag and leave. They know where you live now and you have to protect those beans,” said the old man who was now sitting in Foster's kitchen.

“What... how... why are you here? How do you know where I live? What is going on?”

“Calm, calm, it will be fine. You must go to the city with the beans. It is too busy there for them to keep track of you. You must go to the cafe Les Deux Magots. Order an espresso and the rose macaroon. This will let the elder know you are the chosen one. Once you are done, cross the street and attend the mass at Abby of Saint-Germain-des-PrĂ©s. A priest will ask you to confess. You must follow him and only him to confession and give him all of the beans. Do not lose them, the human race relies on you to do this,” explained the old man.

“Why me? What do these beans do? Who are these bad people that want them? I can't do this? I am afraid of being in public around lots of people I can't do this!” Foster was frantic. The thought of being around all those people in Paris made him want to vomit.

“You look a little green in the face. No worries. The world needs you. You were just picked and that is the way of things. Deal with it. Now you better go. The black car has circled by three times since you have gotten home. Go on now and take my car. Maybe that will distract them,” before he could protest, the old man tossed him keys to a little black car and shoved him out the door.

Foster was off for the long hour drive to Paris. Every mile he thought about turning around. Who cares about a couple of beans? He didn't even know what they did or what would be so bad about giving them up. He did know that being in Paris made him feel like the world was on his shoulders and caused him to lose grip on reality. Just as Foster entered Paris he noticed two black cars behind him, then three, then six. They turned where he turned and stopped where he stopped. As he rounded the street to pass the Eiffel Tower, a black car stopped in front of him. All six men jumped out of their cars and ripped Foster out of his seat. They tore at his clothes until they had grabbed the beans and off they ran towards the Eiffel Tower. An even greater sense of urgency had filled him to the brim. The beans were gone! He initially wanted to be rid of them but the old man's voice just kept playing in his head. Don't lose the beans... human race... what had he done? Without a thought he gave chase. All six men went in different directions but only one of them had the beans. He just needed to find the one man.

Foster ran underneath the tower. There were so many people. He felt like his throat was going to close. There was so much noise and Nigerians all over trying to sell him their stolen stuff. Full panic was setting in. His eyes were watering, he was sweating and just as he was about to curl in a ball and give up a little boy tugged at his arm. The little boy pointed towards the south lg of the tower. There one of the men was running! It had to of been the one with the beans so Foster ran after him. Dashing down the street, zipping between cars and bikes they made their way towards the Seine. Just before the man jumped in the river Foster grabbed him. They wrestled for a minute when the little boy from earlier walked up and punched the man in the head. Both Foster and the man were stunned but Foster regained the wee bit of confidence he had and grabbed the beans. The little boy clapped and Foster took off running. He grabbed the first cab he could find and quickly made his way to Les Deux Magots. He didn't see the black cars following him so he took a deep breath. He took a seat inside where the Hemingway picture was hung on the wall. He felt like a drug addict just sitting at the table so jumpy and on edge looking for the thieves and being anxious about the amount of people watching him.

After finishing his espresso and his macaroon he walked over to the church across the street. Mass was just beginning. It was so peaceful and gave him so much ease that he had actually made it there with only a little bit of complications. As he sat and watched the service he noticed a tiny old priest make his way towards him.

“May I hear your confession young man?” he asked.

“Yes.. uh... oui, oui, merci,” said Foster.

“Follow me.”

Foster followed the old man all the way to the back of the grand, old church. He could not believe his ease at the moment. Normally a situation like this would make him too nauseated to continue. They entered a confessional and Foster looked at the window. The old man was ripping off his face!

“You made it safely! Thank goodness! I was worried when I saw the men attack you! I had to send my brother to help you,” replied the old man who was now a beautiful young woman.

“What in the world is going on!” whispered Foster aggressively.

“Oh I am sorry! I am the Keeper of the Humans and you, my handsome one, are my soul mate. I needed you to take the beans and bring them to me so I knew you were competent enough to handle your new role. We must go now. I will take the beans, I have a safe place for them. We must had towards Barcelona to meet with the Keeper of the Universe. We have a great task ahead of us,” responded the pretty girl.

She was so beautiful and passionate, he seemed completely at ease with her. His life was so shrouded in fear and hiding but he didn't want to live like that anymore. If she was his soul mate then he had to follow her, at least that is what he rationalized.

“Yeah... okay, let's go to Barcelona,” he said as she smiled at him.

The Money Box

She had found something that would mean she'd never be poor again- but there was a catch. The man that had given her the box warned her there would be consequences. He told her that any amount of money she could think of would appear in the box. This could solve all her problems. Sienna could pay her bills, pay off her house, pay her student loans, travel, she could do anything she wanted! Before he left, the giver of the box gave her one final warning.

“Every time you wish for more than you need, you will lose time in this world. Think wisely,” he said and with a smile he left her home.

What would she do? Sienna thought long and hard about how difficult her money problems have become. She couldn't afford to go back to school the next semester, she could barely pay for her mortgage and she lost her job just that morning. She could really use the money. She heeded the man's advice and choose not to think of more money than she needed. For several months she thought of only her needs. This allowed her to pay her bills. She used her extra time to volunteer instead of working and life seemed to be on the up and up. After several months of being happy and doing well she decided to think of more. Her friends were going to New York in a couple of months and she wanted to go.

“That would be awesome but how can you afford that? Actually how have you been paying your bills?” asked one of her friends.

“Well, you see I have this box...” Sienna explained her box and decided to show them how it worked by thinking of the cost of plane tickets, hotel and fun for New York. Suddenly thousands of dollars appeared in the box. She smiled a huge smile but felt a sharp pain in her chest.

“Has that ever happened before?” asked a friend.

“The money yes, the chest pain no. It must be a coincidence,” Sienna laughed it off and dismissed the man's warnings from months ago. The friends took their trip and Sienna was in heaven! It was such a wonderful time. She had never left her home town and thank s to the money box she was far from home. She decided after that to travel the world completely ignoring the warning of losing her time. She wished for lots of money and took her friends to Rome. That was a trip of a lifetime for all of them. They saw the Colosseum, the ancient ruins, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, they ate pasta until they could faint and drank the world's best wine. After 3 weeks, it was time to go home.

“I think we should upgrade to first class,” boasted Sienna. The girls squealed with joy. Sienna thought hard and opened the box inside was a note.

You were warned.

Sienna shut the box hard and took a deep breath. Without warning a gust blew through the airport and Sienna dropped dead. The box was gone with Sienna's soul. Her friends were screaming and the airport was in chaos, all because she asked for more than she needed without working for it.

The Hawk and the Prairie Dog

There once lived a prairie dog in Clement Park. She was a brilliant rodent who was savvy at protecting her numerous brothers and sisters from predators. She made traps so foxes and coyotes could not get in their homes and she collected bird feathers so they could run around during the day and look like the hawks in the sky. One day, the day was warm and the breeze had disappeared. A hawk had landed in the field where the prairie dogs were searching for food.

“Little prairie dog, you are not hiding very well in those ridiculous feathers,” said the hawk.

“It has worked well so far! You have not eaten us and neither has anyone else!” barked the prairie dog.

“This lack of a breeze is killing me. I just want to soar in the sky not stay here on the ground. This is miserable,” the hawk just looked at the sky surveying the clouds around her.

“You aren't here to eat us?” inquired the prairie dog.

“Oh no no! A little mouse every so often is more than enough for me. You prairie dogs are far too large and even when I have babies I only catch rabbits for my hatchlings. Rabbits are far too obnoxious to be concerned about. I like flying above your family and watching you all skitter around the fields. It's quite amusing!” the prairie dog was so confused by this. She was taught to fear all land and air predators with beaks and claws and teeth that would tear them apart. How could this hawk be so different.

“It's okay hawk, I don't like rabbits either. They eat our bugs and flowers and they make people think they are so cute,” scuffed the prairie dog to the hawk.

“I like your amusing costumes to confuse us sky creatures but it won't protect you. I will protect you if you guys continue to run around in them. I do enjoy watching you all play,” in that moment the prairie dog didn't look at the hawk like a predator but instead as a graceful creature from the clouds.

“You have a deal hawk! While there is no wind would you like to walk with us as we pick flowers and bugs?” asked the prairie dog.

The hawk nodded yes and a beautiful friendship occurred between the hawks and the prairie dogs of the area. The hawk spent everyday with the prairie dog family and protected them from humans and animals alike.

The Kenney Boys

Three little boys,
Always covered in dirt,
They smile and play,
Giving their dog Rascal
A run for his money.
With hearts of gold,
The Kenney boys
Love Jesus and their church.
They never feel alone
Since they always have each other,
This breeds chaos all around,
Someone is always bruised or broken.
They laugh like the room is a full tickle
And enjoy chasing the chickens.
Mud, dinosaurs, cuts and cars,
Through and through they are boys,
Boys with missing teeth
And almost always missing shirts,
Each one every bit a Kenney.
