The
Sparrow Who Loved the Goldfish
There
once lived a sweet sparrow who loved skimming the pond and eating
bugs that took a sip of water. After a tasty meal, sparrow sat at the
edge of the pond dipping her head in the cool water when suddenly a
glittery orange sight befell her. Up from the water shot a
spectacular goldfish. Sparrow flew over to the spot the goldfish
jumped from. Sparrow must have been a beautiful sight as well because
the goldfish came to the surface to say hello.
“Hello
lovely sparrow! How you fly so sweetly above the water! I was
watching as you gracefully caught your supper. You are truly an
enigma,” beamed goldfish.
“I
am an enigma? The way you jumped and showered the scene with color
made my heart flutter! You shine brighter than the sun. You are so
handsome and talented goldfish and you speak so brilliantly,”
swooned sparrow.
They
spoke for some time and found a great fondness for each other. After
speaking for a while and falling into mutual fondness, sparrow became
tired from flying above the pond. She excused herself and flew to a
branch above the pond.
“Oh
goldfish, I have such great fondness for you but I cannot fly forever
above your aquatic home. Whatever shall we do? I cannot join you in
your home and you cannot come fly high in the skies with me. My tiny
beating heart feels broken,” cried sparrow.
“Sweet
sparrow do not cry! My fondness for you is too great to say goodbye.
I will make my home here at the edge of the pond, you make yours on
this branch. I shall watch you everyday as you fly with all your
beauty. I will watch you catch you meals and be free in the clouds.
You can watch me glide through the water and jump to catch my meals.
We can appreciate all that we adore of each other daily!”
proclaimed goldfish.
“That
is brilliant, like you goldfish. I may not get to spend all my time
with you but my mind has grown with your intelligence and kindness
and I do just love watching you be as glorious as you are. My home
will forever be near you. My heart will be with you since I cannot be
with you,” cooed sparrow.
Sparrow
and goldfish knew they could never be together in a home but they
also could no be apart. Their hearts were one even though they were
so different. For all their lives they lived at the edge of the pond,
always sharing a fondness of the other's wonderful abilities,
talents, beauty and grace.

Buddy's
Diary: The End of an Era
Here
I lay in my kennel and all I can do is sleep. I injured myself so my
people took me in for surgery. Along with this surgery they also got
me “fixed”. Now how exactly are you fixing me if you are removing
my male parts and shoving a cone on my head. I cannot hear properly
and I no longer have a desire to mark all of my yard. I can smell
just myself all over the yard and not another dog. I guess maybe I am
“fixed” since the yard is most certainly all mine now. I am a bit
swollen but after being stuck at the vet I am more than happy to
prance around my home. The people there did not give me the attention
my people always give me so I barked at them until they did. My lady
person thinks she is being sneaky by putting my medicine in peanut
butter. It was nice but I would eat the pill anyway. Hopefully this
cone will come off soon so I can get my hearing back. It is quite
obnoxious. I need to rest now. I feel the pain meds beginning to
work.
