Writing

Being a writer has given me some real purpose to my life. For many years I searched and searched for what the meaning of my life was and writing has helped me find that. Writing has helped me cope with my depression and bipolar disorder. There have been days where I have been really low and had some really dark, bleak days and if I didn't have my writing I don't know how I would have pulled through all of that. Writing has also been an outlet for all of my positive feelings and if you have experience with bipolar disorder, it is good to deal with all feelings not just the bad. I can express my absolute love and fondness for my incredible husband. I can write adventures about my friends. I can get out some revenge on people who make me mad (come on people, don't piss off a writer look at George R. R. Martin). I can fill the world with all of the amazing  things my mind comes up with. I have felt so much joy at learning how much people enjoy my stories. All over the world I have followers who read my blog daily. I love to see that my work is traveling to lands I haven't even been to.

I have so much better of an understanding of who I am what I am meant to be in life thanks to my writing and really thanks to my husband. Without his love and support I would never be able to have the freedom to do what I love. He encourages me and even gives me ideas for stories. He never doubts my abilities and never discourages my writing. He finds beauty in my flaws and he also holds me accountable when others don't. Above all he has been my greatest champion in everything in our lives, especially when it comes to my bipolar and depression issues. Life may not always be great, hell it is sometimes down right awful, but at the end of the day I have my husband, my health and my writing.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday! Tonight I will be attending Film on the Rocks with my love to see Fight Club! Adieu adieu mes amis!

Alice and the Mailman

Alice was a very sweet 4 year old who loved watching life happen from the living room window. She waved everyday to the neighbor who walked her dog, she giggled at the squirrels who chased each other up the tree and she thought of what it would be like to go to school as she watched the kids get off the bus. More than anything her favorite thing to do was to go with her mom and greet the mailman. He was a very elderly man who had delivered the mail in the neighborhood for as long as anyone can remember. Alice loved these meetings so much that she called him Papa James and was sad on the two days he was not working. Sometimes she would draw him pictures and sometimes they brought him cookies but everyday they saw each other was a delight for both Alice and Papa James.

One day, Alice and her mother went to retrieve the mail but the mailman was not there on his usual day. Alice asked the new mail lady where her Papa James was that day. Sadly the mail lady informed Alice and her mother that their dear mail man had passed away quietly in his home. Everyone was very sad and heart broken but they were able to attend the memorial for their Papa James Monroe.

“Mommy, if Papa James is gone does that mean that Mammy, Grandma, Grandpa and Papa Will will also go away too? Will you and daddy go too?” Alice asked with tears in her eyes.

“Well sweetheart the thing is no one ever really goes away. Papa James will always watch over you. Even when we are all gone, we will all watch over you. We all get old and eventually everyone dies. We are lucky though. We get to wait in heaven for all our loved ones. Papa James will be in heaven waiting for us all and his family and he will smile down on us watching us enjoy our lives,” explained Alice's mother.

This seemed to satisfy the 4 year old and she sat quietly for the rest of the service. At the end Alice and her mother went to give their condolences to Mrs. Monroe. Mrs. Monroe was very pleased to see so many people show up for her husband's memorial service. With tears in her eyes, she thanked Alice for coming. Alice kissed Mrs. Monroe's cheek and patted her shoulder.

“Don't worry Mrs. Monroe, Papa James is in heaven waiting for us. He is watching you so don't be sad, one day you will get to be with him again,” assured Alice.

The brilliance of an understanding child caught everyone by surprise that evening. Rather than be sad, many spent the rest of the day enjoying their family, friends and the memories of James. They all went home that night and rather than say goodbye they all said, “Until we see each other again.” Alice never forgot her Papa James and she also never forgot to appreciate life. She continued to love getting the mail because she knew Papa James would be watching her, it was her dedication to him and to all that life's happiness had to offer.

Zombie Atlantis

The night was dark and warm. The moon was high and full. It was a great night for an adventure. Nakita, Krysta, Justin, Scott and Javaneh had a plan and that was to find the Lost City of Atlantis. After many months of research and preparation the crew was ready for deep sea dive. They had all their equipment and maps of the surrounding areas. They had saved and saved and were finally headed to the Mediterranean Sea near Crete. They were finally there and things could not be more perfect, everyone was excited! They found their spot in the sea, anchored their boat and one by one they jumped into the cool water.

Things were beyond perfect. The water was clear as if the sun were shining all around them. The friends smiled and gave each other thumbs up. Slowly they swam down to the sea floor to find their hidden city. If only they could hear the horrifying sounds but sadly they couldn't hear much over the bubble of their SCUBA gear. Lower and lower they sank and with their flash lights they finally saw it. Hidden behind seaweed and moss was the elaborate city of Atlantis! Cheering and patting each other they began to explore. Justin swam between two pillars and picked up a bowl that was cracked in half. As he was examining it an undead, nearly skeletal zombie grabbed him by his face and ripped off his mask. Justin struggled to get the mask back on and fight the zombie off. The zombie bit into Justin's neck, ripping flesh from from his throat. Scott saw Justin being attacked and used his fishing spear to stab the zombie in the head. Blood filled the water and as Scott began to pull Justin to the surface a shark grabbed Justin and began to eat his lifeless body.

Fear filled Scott to the core. He looked down and saw hundreds of zombies walking aimlessly on the sea floor, eating fish and trying to grab at the group as they unknowingly swam above. Scott quickly went over to Javaneh, pointed to the sea floor and pulled her to the surface. Nakita saw what Scott pointed at and swam up with them.

“Where is Krysta? Where is Justin?” She stammered as she ripped off her mask.

“Justin is dead. One of them got him and a shark finished him,” he confessed to the girls, “I don't know where Krysta is. I assumed she was with you.”

“She was! I thought she saw me go up! We have to go find her!” Nakita yelled.

“Okay, okay, we will go find her. Keep your voice down,” hissed Javaneh, “take a deep breath and we can go look for her. No one leaves the each other's eye sight. No one for no reason! If you see something get everyone's attention! Masks on, let's go!”

On the count of three the slipped on their masks and dove back down, keeping a constant eye on each other. Quickly, Nakita spotted Krysta. Scott, Nakita and Javaneh swam to her. Krysta was struggling to stay above the zombies but they had her foot. She kicked and kicked them but they nearly were taking her over. Spears in hand Scott and Javaneh stabbed at the zombies to free Krysta while Nakita helped pull her away. Once Krysta was free the four of them swam to the surface. The four of them jumped into the boat and immediately Nakita started ripping at the bottom of Krysta's suit.

“Stop! Stop! I wasn't bit! I am fine! Where is my brother?” inquired Krysta.

“Buscus he's gone,” cried Nakita.

“He is the reason we are here. No one saw the zombies below and Justin was attacked first,” said Scott.

“What? No! We have to go get him! We have to go save him!” screamed Krysta.

After calming her down and realizing what was going on below them they decided to go home. When they were home, the four survivors created the ultimate sea zombie fighting tools and returned to the Mediterranean Sea. They dove back down to that sea floor and over several days avenged Justin's death. Eventually all of the Atlantis zombies were taken care of. As they sat on the beach remembering Justin, they came to a realization.

“If the zombies were down there, couldn't there be more?” asked Nakita.

“There could be!” announce Javaneh. She was the history buff of the group and knew of many legends of different cultures, “We could find El Dorado or The Lost City of Z!”

“What if the only reason zombies haven't taken over the world is because no one can find these cities and the zombies aren't smart enough to get out!” chimed in Nakita.

“We need to find these lost cities and kill all of those horrible creatures, for Justin and mankind alike,” said Krysta.

It was decided that night. They would find all of the lost cities of the world and remove the undead threat that is lurking in the hidden shadows.
