The hills are golden

The mountains are so pretty right now! Things are starting to turn golden, not yet red, from the Aspen's changing. It is so beautiful! We tried to take the truck up to see the trees but we nearly lost a tire and had to go back to get our other car. We finally made it up there and saw the beauty that is Colorado.

Enjoy my pictures from Saturday!

A little bit of red bursting through the green and gold.

People in Colorado can be so weird. This is what we found in the mountains near St. Mary's Glacier.

The L.A. Night Sky

Anna lived in Los Angeles her whole life. She had left the city before but just to visit other large cities such as Chicago and New York. Her whole life revolved around the big lights and sounds of L.A. One night, as Anna sat on her back patio watching the twinkling lights of the never sleeping city, she heard a loud surge and all the lights went out. The world around her was completely dark and for a minute it was also silent. Cars crashed and people started yelling trying to figure out what was going on. Anna was terrified. She had never been in complete darkness before. She didn't even own a flash light. As she searched around for some answers she noticed the night sky. The sky was littered with glowing lights. She had never seen anything so beautiful yet so terrifying! It had to be aliens and she needed backup so she called the police. Quickly the police were at her home because she said she was scared and it was an emergency.

“What can we help you with ma'am?” asked one officer.

“Oh thank you so much for coming!” Anna caught her breath and explained, “The city lights went out and I believe it is because aliens are coming.”

“We have a non-emergency, possibly drug or alcohol related,” radioed the other officer back to command.

“Ma'am, you are only supposed to call 911 for emergencies. You are wasting our time. If we receive a call like this again from you we will give you a ticket.”

“I am being serious! Look in the sky! Don't you see the glowing lights?” Anna was frantic, “Those are aliens. It has to be! Why else would the lights go out and those lights in the sky appear?”

“There was an accident that took out the lights for a large area. The lights in the sky you are seeing are stars, not aliens ma'am. Please just go inside and wait for the energy company to fix the problem. Goodnight,” responded one of the officers.

“Can you believe this?” said the one officer to the other as they walked away.

“Maybe aliens should attack L.A. with clueless people like that here!” they laughed and walked away as they chuckled at a girl who had not ever seen stars before.

The Story of the Trees

Hundreds of years ago, the trees lived in harmony in the untouched mountains. They danced in the wind and soaked up endless hours of sun. As the years progressed the trees began to notice a new creature. These beings were people. They gathered leaves and branches for various things but for the most part left the trees alone. People soon began coming in larger masses. The trees grew concerned and tried to sprout a greater force of greenery throughout the forests. People came in droves with wagons and cattle. Horses helped create paths and roads as people cut down the trees in the way. The surviving trees mourned their lost. Eventually people settled in the forests and began paving roads. Mountain sides were blasted away and thousands of trees were hauled off to their deaths. The trees ached for their loss. Now the surviving trees stand by the roads, watching over the land where their families were destroyed. They see children with their parents heading out to camp. They see young adults road tripping to the coast. They see happy people enjoying the scenery that is left. The trees still mourn their loved ones atop the mountains high in the clouds but they stay strong in their roots that the memory never be forgotten of quieter times in the land.
