The Thing
Their cabin
was tiny but it was an adorable little vacation place. Scott and
Javaneh would definitely enjoy their anniversary vacation here in
Grand Lake. The night was upon them and the two headed off to bed.
They were in town during the off season so it was fairly quiet. The
only thing they could here was the wind howling outside.
In the
middle of the night the wind woke Javaneh up. Something told her to
look out the window by the bed. She put on her glasses and peaked out
the blinds. Standing right outside their window was a ghoulish
looking thing. She leapt away from the window and gasped. The thing
had long, scraggly, black hair. Its face was hallow and gaunt. Its
eyes were open but there were no eye balls just empty sockets and its
mouth was wide open like it was screaming.
Javaneh ran
to the front door to make sure it was locked. The thing was there!
She ran to the kitchen door to lock that as well and the thing had
moved to there! It was in every window but wasn't moving. It was
following her around the windows in its endless noiseless scream.
Javaneh ran to the bedroom to wake Scott but the thing was in the bed
where Scott had been laying. She screamed at the top of her lungs.
Just as she did she shot up in bed.
It was just
a dream. She looked out the window. No one was there and Scott was
sleeping next to her. With a sigh of relief she fell back asleep. The
next morning Javaneh told Scott about her dream. They discussed how
weird it was while they ate breakfast. Brushing off the weird dream,
they left to venture in the snowy mountains of Colorado. When they
walked outside they both stopped cold in their tracks. There were
bare human footprints around the entire perimeter of their cabin in
the snow.

The Big
Day
She sat in
that little room, her stress was swallowing her not unlike her grand
dress. It was sweltering in that little room and she just wanted to
get on with the show. It had to be a thousand degrees in there and
people just kept coming in. Whether to compliment her or to express
concerns about problems going on, they were making the little room
even littler.
Though her
girls were helping her out, she was truly wearing them thin with her
stress and bridal tantrums. One cranberry vodka soothed all of that
and the ability of her best friend to bulldoze any problem eased the
scorching wait. She soon sat alone as final preparations were being
had. Deep breaths and a reapplication of lipstick calmed all her
nerves. Today would be great.
The time had
come. Everyone walked out to the front of the venue. Each group took
their turn until it was hers. She waited out of view until she got
her cue then stepped forward. Their eyes met and all her stress was
washed away. She was walking towards the love of her life and
everything was absolutely perfect. The heat was gone and the stress
melted with it. He looked at her with all the admiration in the world
and all was well again.
